The Project:
The project consists of developing a 6 000 Ha Giant Bamboo plantation which will produce sufficient biomass feedstock to make 2 000 barrels per day of synthetic diesel, lubricant oils and a high quality wax (1 barrel = 158 Litres). Well renowned Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) technology will be used to make the products. The diesel will be sold locally as environmentally-friendly and CO2 neutral product and the wax and synthetic oils will be exported abroad.
During the first five years of operation, while the bamboo grows and matures, an alternative feedstock will be used in the F-T process to manufacture the fuel, wax and oil products. This alternative feedstock will be phased out as the bamboo is phased in.
The project capital is deemed to be funded in the following manner – however, these values may vary depending on investor requirements:-
• USD$ 645 Million from Debt and Equity funding
Interest will be paid on debt funding at a fair effective rate per annum in arrears up until all debt funding is repaid. Repayment of debt will begin in year 5 and be fully repaid in year 9.
