For 18 years we have provided landscape contractors in the native and restoration trade with nursery stock of native origin. We grow Trees and Shrubs native to the area grown to which also support pollinators like bees, butterflies and small animals.

These are grown in containers that are hand carried. This is a wholesale only business. Everything is either shipped or picked up to order. A cadre of steady customers we sell and distribute to is part of the deal. There will be a non compete as part of the deal. We have sold some of them for many years. This is a growing nursery catagory and there is little competition. Big Box stores and retail garden centers will never enter into this market sector. It is unique and specialized. For those who are conservators of natural areas, this is a ecofriendly business. The vision of restoring the habitat to resemble what it was 500 years ago is a vital effort in today's world.

The owner needs to step back from this to pursue other interests. My age is such that I know I cannot continue much longer in this enterprise. It's just too good a business to simply shut down. It is scalable to provide significant profit from not much expansion. It is located strategically in a far west suburb of Chicago. Most of the business occurs in the populous northern IL and Southern WI areas. We do ship as far south as Arkansas, Far west as the Rocky Mountains and East to Boston. Most of the business is within 500 miles.

The nursery is currently managed professionally which will stay in place for a new owner. Operates by remote control, I visit the site seldom. Opportunity for an absentee owner. I am willing to stay on for a couple years during the transition to sell, manage and train a new owner. I would operate on a commission basis as a contract consultant. There are additional hires to grow this if so desired. The price includes the Inventory at Cost. I will guarantee that everything that is part of the purchase will be sold in 3 years. There is no land in the sale. We operate on a lease agreement.

This makes money but needs expansion. to feed a hungry market. Before the 2008 economic collapse the company has sales in excess of a half million dollars and made $300,000.

This will require a down payment and the new owner/partner will need to have a credit line of $75,000 which will not be breached and is liquidated within the growing season. Company has very good credit with suppliers who provide excellent terms.

While this could be an absentee operation, it would benefit from competent horticultural oversight. The Native tree and shrub business is very exciting and a fast growing segment of the nursery marketplace. In a couple seasons a partner or owner would know enough of the cycle to take over.

Contact me for more information and I will provide you the business model and the balance of what is included in the sale as well as a formal offer.
